1. Scope
This App Privacy Policy describes how the BiteMeasure AI mobile application (the “App”) collects and uses information on iOS and Android. It supplements our general Privacy Policy, which also applies. Where the two differ regarding the App, this notice controls.
2. Data the App collects
- Account & authentication — email address and authentication identifiers from email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.
- Food images — photos you capture or select for nutrition analysis.
- Nutrition & scan history — meals, portion edits, calorie and macro estimates, goals, and food-scan history.
- Device & diagnostics — device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs, and usage statistics.
- Identifiers — Firebase installation identifiers and push notification tokens.
- Subscription status — plan, renewal state, and purchase tokens from the App Store or Google Play.
3. Camera permission
The App requests camera access only so you can scan food to generate nutrition estimates. The camera is never used for any other purpose, is only active while you are scanning, and you can decline or revoke the permission at any time in your device settings (the App still works using photo uploads).
4. Photo library and uploads
If you choose to upload an existing photo, the App accesses only the image(s) you select. Selected photos are used solely for AI nutrition analysis and related app features (such as displaying and editing your meal log). The App does not scan or upload your entire photo library.
5. Notifications
With your permission, the App sends push notifications such as reminders and updates using a device notification token. You can disable notifications at any time in the App or device settings.
6. How the App uses data
- Recognize foods and estimate portions, calories, and nutrients.
- Save your daily log, history, and goals.
- Provide the Coach and Ideas features based on what you logged.
- Maintain security, diagnose crashes, and improve accuracy.
- Manage subscriptions, free trials, and scan allocations.
7. Firebase and backend services
The App uses Google Firebase, which may include Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and Analytics to store your account, images, and nutrition data securely and to run backend logic. These services process data on our behalf under Google’s terms.
8. AI image analysis
Your food images and meal details are processed by our systems and trusted AI providers to generate estimates. Results are estimates and may be inaccurate — see the AI Disclaimer and Health Disclaimer. We do not use your images to identify you and we do not sell them.
9. In-app purchases
Subscriptions and any in-app purchases are processed by Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing. We receive subscription status and purchase tokens but not your full payment details. See our Subscription Terms and Refund Policy.
10. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf, with Apple and Google for billing, with people you explicitly share a meal with, and where required by law. See the general Privacy Policy for full detail.
11. Retention and deletion
You can delete individual meals and images in the App, and you can delete your entire account and associated data at any time. See Account Deletion for steps and timelines.
12. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and other reasonable safeguards to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. App store privacy labels
The privacy information shown on the Apple App Store and Google Play Data safety sections summarizes these practices. If there is any inconsistency, this App Privacy Policy and our general Privacy Policy provide the authoritative description.
14. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
